Od hlavy k patce

The exhibition project develops its pre-requisite in the field of painting - textiles. In her textile work, the artist focuses on the authentic expression of material and the cultivation of artistic techniques. Textile paintings represent a range of handmade works carried out for the purpose of relaxation to the sphere of professional craft and, consequently, the textile industry.

The discourse of the artisanal turn reflects a return to the handmade, a rehabilitation of folk, domestic, feminized and self-help production. The approach takes inspiration from DIY culture and deliberately avoids passive adoption of traditional crafts.

The installation is designed as a laboratory for the relationship between machine and hand production. The artist also understands this work as a symptom of escapism responding to a cybernetic and over-technicized, all-round frustrating society.

The title of the project carries the phrase "from head to toe", whereby a part of the human body is replaced by a component from a sewing machine. The author refers to the sociologist Richard Sennett, who talks about the problem of the so-called hand-head connection in contemporary society.
