Až budu mít svůj dům
Až budu mít svůj dům | Michaela Horynová & Dominika Cyprová 20/5–30/6 2023
"A picture can hold more reality than words." (Joseph Campbell: The Power of Myth)
The exhibition Až budu mít svůj dům presents poetry materialized in pictures. Michaela Horynová's poems are not only accompanied by illustrations, the texts become a direct part of Dominika Cyprová's paintings, forming a collaborative collage. The words have thus become just the basis of ideas that the artist has transferred to paper. Therefore, it does not matter too much whether the reader reads all the words, the visual perception is the key. It is the images that have the ability to instantly communicate with our emotions and intuition, they do not hide their message behind metaphor.
The title of the exhibition Až budu mít svůj dům is based on a line from one of the poems on display. In Greek, the word for house is oikos, and it is the composition of oikos and logos (word) that gave rise to the concept of ecology - the house of the title thus symbolically refers to environmental issues that Horynová often addresses in her poetry. The house is also a sanctuary, a space of its own, a characteristic place of the private sphere that often forms the backdrop of both Horynová's and Cyprová's works, both of which draw on the everyday in their works, confronting it with that which transcends us. In a broader sense, the title refers to the search for one's place in the world.
Dominika Cyprová (*1994) is an artist from Hradec Kralové with a penchant for an experimental approach to art. She studied graphic design and now works mainly with children, to whom she introduces the world of (not oly fine) art.
Michaela Horynová (*1989) is a poet and web editor. Her poetry collection In the Gardens was published in 2015 and she has been publishing in magazines since then. She lives in Hradec Králové.
