We are focusing on first-rate and art house films. We also offer alternative content, such as opera, theatre or ballet screenings. Our cinema hosts leading film festivals and displays, as well as documentaries and projects by up-and-coming filmmakers. The building is partially wheelchair accessible, as it has a wheelchair platform (into The Big Hall and the Central Bar) and accessible toilets. The Big Hall is also equiped with induction loop for hearing aid.
The Small Hall and the balcony of The Big Hall are not wheelchair accessible. “Non barking” dogs are welcomed into our bar and even into the cinema halls themselves.
The Great Hall has a capacity of 384 seats and 3 “beds,” the 4K projection is made possible by the SONY Cinealta SRX-R515P projector. This hall is equipped with a 7.1 sound system.
The Small Hall has a capacity of 27 seats and is equipped with a 7.1 sound system and the Espedeo Supra-5000 projector.
The summer cinema is located in the Gayer Barracks, next to the Bajkazyl café. We mainly show films from the last few years that have not been given as much space in the classic halls.
Our technology was financed by the city of Hradec Králové and The Czech Film Fund.
You can see pictures from the cinema here.

We offer high-quality programs for children of all ages. Primary schools, high schools and school clubs can choose from our wide range of school screening options and film workshops.
The current program of our cinema is not limiting to schools, as any film in Czech distribution can be arranged for school screenings. Our employees will gladly help teachers find a film appropriate for an age group, a school subject or a specific topic.
Teachers can also use free educational materials available for films distributed by our partner, Aerofilms.
For regular school screenings, the price range is between 50 and 90 CZK per student (teachers receive free admission). The screening has to be attended by at least 50 students in The Great Hall and at least 20 students in The Small Hall.
Do you want to work in the best cinema in Hradec? Fill out the form at bit.ly/Chci-pracovat-v-BioCentral and we'll get back to you as soon as we have a spot for you. Thanks!
We are fully staffed at the moment but we will let you know if some position opens up.
The story of Bio Central begins in 1928 with a license application; the cinema started screening in the next year. It changed its name too many times to count and its building was reconstructed on several occasions, implementing larger or smaller adjustments. The most significant changes were the digitalization in 2009 and its improvement in 2017.
The cinema as you know it today began its journey in 2012 with Bio Central opening under current management. Studio Garsonka was reconstructed in 2021 and turned into The Small Hall, which uses new, DCI compliant technology for its screenings.
We’re a bunch of friends who love film and everything around it. Besides our cinemas, we recommend you to also check out the work of our colleagues in the film distribution company Aerofilms, film education for kids, schools and adults in Aeroškola or the film shop and poster gallery Terry Posters.
And do not forget about our sister cinemas Aero, Světozor, Přítomnost and Bio Oko and Cobra Bar in Prague and the University Cinema Scala in Brno.

Since our reopening in 2013, the cinema has made it possible for tens of up-and-coming creators to display their art here.
You can see the exhibition Čáry by Nikola Beková in the café.
A carefully curated poster exhibition from Terry's socks gallery is always on display in our cinema's foyer.
Until 3 December you will find in the foyer an exhibition entitled Paths by the artist Adam Sýkora.
Exhibitions in Bio Central are supported by the Hradec Králové Region. Thank you.
