Deaf-friendly screenings
How does it work
The films are accompanied by subtitles for the deaf, which include both dialogue from the film and descriptions of non-dialogue sounds. For example, the creaking of a door or a musical component.
In the production of subtitles, we cooperate, for example, with the organization Tichý svět z.s.
The Great hall is also equipped with an induction loop for hearing aids and cochlear implants. The device needs to be switched to the T position for sound transmission.
For whom the screenings are suitable
The projections are adapted to people with different degrees of hearing impairment. From mild to complete hearing loss.
However, they are also suitable for:
- foreigners who are learning the Czech language
- people with cognitive impairments who find it difficult to follow the action
Yet, the screenings are open to anyone who thinks they might be better suited than the classical ones.
Will you need any proof from me that I, or the person I am accompanying, has a disorder?
No, no one will require any confirmation from you.
Is the screening wheelchair accessible?
It is. The entrance to the auditorium is equipped with a platform for wheelchair users. Our trained staff will assist you with its operation. Just ring the bell. The toilets are also wheelchair accessible and the Great Hall can also be accessed with the aid of a platform.
How do I get to the cinema and how do I find my way around?
The nearest public transport stop is Centrál. The passageway will take you to the glass doors. Through this you will pass into the cinema hall. Under the stairs on the right is our café. You can take your refreshments into the auditorium.
Another glass door opposite the main entrance leads to the foyer. To the left of the entrance is the box office. To the right are the ladies toilets, and on the opposite side are the men's and accessible toilets. On either side of the foyer are the entrances to the Great Hall. The staircases on the sides lead to a walk-through balcony.
A wheelchair platform is available at the main entrance and in the Great Hall.
The Great Hall has a total of 384 seats plus 3 “beds”. Seating is non-addressed, which means you can sit anywhere.
If you need assistance moving around the cinema space, please do not hesitate to contact us at veronika.kysela@biocentral.cz.
Our staff is not currently sign language proficient, but at least one interpreter from Tichý svět will be provided for the screening.
Do I need to purchase a ticket in advance?
No. Tickets can be purchased at the box office and on the day of the screening. Payment is possible by cash or credit card. If you want to secure your seat, they are also available on our website. The ticket price is 160 CZK, for disabled card holders it is 80 CZK.
How do we select films?
We select audience-appealing films in Czech language from the current distribution offer.
