Lev salonu
Architecture, film and the genius loci of Hradec Králové
Lev salonu is a unique cultural project that in 2025 will present Hradec Králové as a city of exceptional architecture. During five evenings, the well-known architect and actor David Vávra will guide you through the city's most important sites - from the magical confluence of the Elbe and Orlice rivers through the works of Jan Kotěra and Josef Gočár to the most modern buildings of today. All walks will be live streamed to the cinema screen and will end with screenings of iconic films at Bio Central.
Each evening will include themed refreshments or a special opportunity to engage the local community - not only architectural enthusiasts and cinephiles, but also paddlers, cyclists and more.
The project is part of the celebration of 800 years of the city and will result not only in five unforgettable evenings, but also in a comprehensive documentary mapping the architectural gems of Hradec Králové. David Vávra will show you the city in a way that will open your eyes to the beauty of Hradec Králové's architecture. The beauty of the "salon of the republic".
20. 2. – Confluence
The first evening of the Lev salonu project will begin with an on-line cinema broadcast from the magical confluence of the Elbe and Orlice rivers. David Vávra will lead his interpretation directly from the promontory of the mainland, surrounded by a fleet of local water scouts and rowers. The evening will end with a screening of one of the best Czech films - Markéta Lazarová.
Come and experience the unique atmosphere of the place where two rivers join and see František Vláčil's legendary film on the big screen.

You will learn more about this from David Vávra.

23. 9. – Josef Havlíček
Discover the work of architect Josef Havlíček, who was one of the leading figures of the interwar avant-garde. He made his mark on the shape of Hradec Králové primarily with the design of the Church of St. Ambrose and the original apartment buildings that grew into the Labská kotlina housing estate.
In Bio Central we have prepared a double screening this evening - a satirical film by Věra Chytilová Panelstory or How a Housing Estate is Born and a film story "On a Brigade" from Tomáš Vorel's debut Pražská 5.
