Polish jazz posters

Polish jazz posters

16th September - 30th November 2022

The exhibition presents a collection of twenty Polish jazz posters. In Poland, a country promised to posters, not only original film posters but also theatre and music posters were designed and realised. Especially during the years of communist dictatorship, music in Poland was generally an island of freedom. From jazz music to punk music. Rock and jazz music festivals became a place of protest and defiance, and Polish artists also accompanied them with excellent posters.

This exhibition collection presents some of them, especially the jazz ones that promoted the great jazz festivals in Poland (Jazz nad Odra, Jazz Jamboree). The exhibition is then complemented by a series of legendary Polish posters by Waldemar Swierzy "Wielcy ludzia jazzu" (Great people of jazz) in which jazz greats such as (Ray Charles, Louis Amstrong, Miles Davis and others) are sketched in Swierzy's characteristic handwriting.

Exhibitions in Bio Central are supported by the Hradec Králové Region. Thank you.
